Demolition · Kelowna
Canadian Tire Automotive.
Selective interior demolition in a live commercial building. Hoists, underground lines, tank and reinforced slab out, 82 percent of material recycled, handed back ready for fit-out.
The job.
Working for B6 Contracting, Scott Contracting & Excavating stripped the automotive side of a Canadian Tire on Leckie Road in Kelowna: hoists out, underground lines and a tank removed, contaminated soil dug and hauled, and a reinforced concrete slab broken up inside the standing building.
Breaking reinforced concrete indoors, tight against cinder block walls, takes patience more than force. The shop was ventilated for air circulation throughout, and material moved straight from the machines into our own bins and trucks.
All 255 tonnes of debris were out inside a month, on schedule, with 82 percent of the concrete and metal recycled. The building went back to its owner ready to be repurposed, with nothing left behind from its automotive years.
