Demolition · West Kelowna
Pine Acres Retirement Home.
Abatement and full demolition of the former Pine Acres Retirement Home, a well-built structure with industrial infrastructure that served the Westbank First Nation community for many years.
The job.
Scott Contracting & Excavating, working alongside Haztec Solutions, carried out the abatement and demolition of the former 44,000 square foot Pine Acres Retirement Home in West Kelowna.
Pre-demolition work included asbestos abatement and the manual removal of roughly 78,000 square feet of drywall. Structural log timbers were salvaged and returned to the community to be re-purposed. Materials were mechanically sorted on site and routed to recycling facilities, producing an 80% landfill diversion rate.
The project was completed on schedule and under budget, on a site kept tidy throughout.
