The job.

Before BC Housing’s Turning Point Apartments could go up in Summerland, the church standing on the site had to come out. Scott Contracting & Excavating took the job through Greyback Construction: high-risk abatement first, then demolition of the 12,000 square foot structure, through the winter of 2024-25.

The abatement scope was the demanding part: high-risk vermiculite and asbestos-containing vinyl flooring, plus moderate-risk drywall, lead and mastic. Every stage ran under full containment and certified supervision, with clearance inspection before the machines touched the building.

The site was handed over on time with zero incidents, cleared and ready for affordable housing construction. It is the kind of job where the neighbours mostly notice how little there was to notice.
